ST. JOHN’S, August 15, 2016 – The Johnson GEO CENTRE is eager to announce upgrades to its geothermal heat pump system, allowing the centre to become stewards of energy conservation and environmental sustainability.
Through the efforts of Centinel Services, BELIMO Aircontrols, CopperTree Analytics, Delta Controls and takeCHARGE NL by Newfoundland Power, the GEO CENTRE will experience an immediate 16.8% savings in energy consumption with a future projection of 25% minimum.
This project, coupled with the Newfoundland Power’s takeCHARGE initiative to switch all 50W halogen bulbs to 11W LED bulbs, will make the Johnson GEO CENTRE one of the most energy efficient buildings in the Province all while saving thousands of dollars a year in energy expenditures.
Centinel Services Ltd. is excited and honoured to be involved with this project, reporting “it is great to see the GEO CENTRE doing their part for energy conservation in such an amazing building.”
The GEO CENTRE’s Property Manager, Dennis Keough, is equally as enthusiastic about the project stating “the Centre is committed to taking action to save energy and in turn reduce the amount spent on it. All employees here should be proud to work for an employer that is so progressive and proactive with regards to energy saving and the environment in general.”
These energy saving measures will also be visible to the public through an interactive kiosk which will be continuously monitoring the centre’s energy consumption.
The new kiosk is set to be unveiled at a special ceremony on Thursday.
